Koi Pond Maintenance & Pond Cleaning
The Pond Pros keep koi ponds healthy across Southern California with routine koi pond maintenance, seasonal clean outs, algae control, pond filter maintenance and pond pump service. We recommend a full clean out every 1-2 years, and we handle the in-between care that keeps your water clear and your fish thriving.

What our pond cleaning service includes
Routine maintenance visits
Scheduled visits to skim debris, check the water, clean skimmer baskets and keep the pond looking the way it did the day we finished it.
Seasonal clean outs
The full reset: drain the pond, remove muck and leaf litter, cut back and divide plants, rinse the rock, then refill and restart the system. We recommend one every 1-2 years.
Algae control
Green water and string algae usually mean the pond is out of balance. We clear the algae and fix the cause — circulation, shade, plant load or filtration — so it stays clear.
Pond filter maintenance
Filter cleaning and media replacement on biological, mechanical and UV filters, so the filtration keeps up with your fish.
Pond pump service
Pump cleaning, impeller checks, flow testing and replacement when a pump is past saving. Weak flow is the first sign of trouble.
Water-quality checks and equipment inspections
Testing for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH, plus a look over the plumbing, auto-fill and liner edges on every visit.
Signs your koi pond needs a clean out
- The water has turned green or cloudy, or string algae is coating the rocks and waterfall.
- There is a layer of sludge on the bottom, or the pond smells when you stir it up.
- Plants have taken over and the fish have nowhere to swim.
- The waterfall flow has dropped off, or the skimmer and filter are clogging within days of being cleaned.
- Your koi are hanging at the surface in the morning or acting sluggish.
Serving the Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley, Orange County and Los Angeles — including La Verne, Claremont, Upland, Ontario, Glendora, Jurupa Valley, Riverside, Colton, Fontana and Chino.
